You make the garden possible, and we, along with our partners, establish it according to permaculture principles. With this monetary donation, you are funding a school garden project in one of our Safe Parks. The total cost is approximately 2,500 EUR for the creation of the garden.
A school garden solves two problems at once, and that is why we build them.
1) It provides food
Vegetables from our own garden go straight into the Safe Park kitchen. This lowers the ongoing costs for meals and makes food supplies less dependent on prices and delivery routes.
2) It imparts knowledge that lasts
In the garden, children learn how food is grown. This is very practical knowledge that they can replicate and repeat at home at any time.
In this way, the garden has an impact beyond the Safe Park.
Why permaculture
We deliberately design the gardens according to permaculture principles.
- Mixed cropping instead of monoculture ensures less pest pressure
- Compost instead of purchased fertilizer ensures lower costs and ecological cultivation
- Mulching and shade plants require significantly less water
- Perennial plants that do not need to be resown every season are productive and resilient
- A cultivation system that improves every year instead of becoming depleted
What the 2,500 EUR creates
Beds and borders, tools, seeds and seedlings, a composting system, water access and irrigation, as well as expert guidance during setup. After that, the garden largely sustains itself.
Thank you for funding something that continues to make an impact every year.
